A TWO-DAY BUILDING MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP

HANDS-ON ELECTRICAL WIRING & EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE, PUMPS & MOTORS, AND PLUMBING SYSTEM MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS

This hands-on workshop provides real-world training in hands-on wiring and equipment maintenance, pumps and motors, and plumbing system maintenance and repairs. Workplace safety and adhering to the NEC (National Electric Code)  is emphasized throughout, and integrated into each hands-on wiring project, as well as instruction on a green approach to evaluating electrical systems and components to ensure maximum energy savings. Building and mechanical codes are addressed in the plumbing segment of the workshop.  All necessary hand tools, materials and test equipment needed to accomplish all wiring projects, troubleshooting and test procedures, and equipment needed to accomplish the hands-on wiring and plumbing projects are provided. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own test equipment, wiring diagrams, or specific equipment information for evaluation and review by the instructor. Interactive, take-home workbooks that serve as a reference manual for use later on the job are issued to each participant.

In the hands-on electrical segment of this workshop, attendees will wire actual circuits, working with switches, receptacles, lights and circuit breakers while learning how to follow the National Electric Code and work safely with electricity. In the plumbing segment, the hands-on portion of the workshop includes using a torch and solder to make copper piping system plumbing repairs, working with plastic piping, and cutting and threading rigid piping to accomplish a repair. Workshop participants will also learn how to repair and replace fixtures.
